Coquille, Oregon’s David Miller won the 2022 edition while 2023 saw Dane Nissen of Williams charge from shotgun on an 18-car field to victory. Action kicks off Friday with practice from 6pm to 10pm. On race day, pit gates open at 11am with the first practices just after 1:30pm. Super Late Models will time trial before action gets underway with opening ceremonies at 6pm.
Ian Elliott in the BAD Racing No. 98 leads the championship standings in the Super Late Models over Scott Baker, Tim MacLeod, Roy Berlinghoff, and Melanie Schmitt. In 2023, Nissen topped Sacramento’s Eric Price, Ryan Walters of Fortuna, Brandon Williams of Redding, and Fortuna’s Luke Hall at the checkered flag.
Two of Northern California’s most exciting young drivers are expected to join the action. 13-year-old Vito Cancilla of Martinez, a winner of 11 Jr. Late Model races and two Pro Late Model races, makes his highly anticipated Super Late Model debut. Loomis’ Kenna Mitchell, fresh off becoming the first female Super Late Model champion at All American Speedway, is also planning to compete after two Super victories and two Pro wins in 2024.
Williams, Douglas Atkins, and Nissen have scored victories during the 2024 SLM races at Shasta. The 125-lap grind will have a fuel stop scheduled for lap 75.
Dustin Hills leads the 15 competitors who have earned points in the 2024 Bomber season heading into Saturday’s 40-lap feature. Bobby Crowell, Kyle Borden, and Hills have taken the wins this season.
Danielle Adams is the leading Hornets racer this season with a 30-lap race scheduled for Saturday night. Tyler Weekley with one win and two wins for Fawna Stankey have split the three Hornets rounds so far.
Russ Lowe has a narrow three-point lead over Derek Copeland in the Legends cars. Copeland, Lowe, and Brian Kamisky have taken the wins in the 5/8ths scale division. They will race in a 35-lap event during championship night.
Darren Taylor Construction presents a hard-hitting Boat Race to close the show. Racers battle for the checkered flag while dragging a boat behind their machine. The boat must remain attached to the car to win the race.
