The 38th championship season of Delta Speedway presented by Valley Strong Credit Union concludes on Friday and Saturday nights with four championships on the line. The Micro Sprint battles wrap up in the Super 600, Non-Wing, Restricted, and Jr. Sprints on the 1/7th mile dirt track at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds dirt track.
Spectator gates open at 6pm on Friday night and 5pm on Saturday night. General Admission tickets are just $10 daily for adults while juniors ages 6-12, seniors, and military are $5, and kids 5 & under are FREE! Pit passes are $25 each night.
Fans who cannot attend the action in person can view flag-to-flag coverage on Fast Four Media, the speedway’s 2024 Pay-Per-View partner. Pit gates open at noon with the driver’s meeting at 5:30pm on Friday and 4:30pm on Saturday. Hot laps and qualifying will follow.
Jeffrey Pahule of Brentwood has moved closer to the sweep of the Super 600 and Non-Wing championships, looking to join a figurative “Hall of Fame” type class of former sweepers such as Austin Wood, Nikko Panella, Caden Sarale, and Brandon Carey. Pahule swept the Non-Wing main event competition during the Labor Day Weekend “Dual at Delta”, extending his wingless championship to lead to a healthy 143-point margin. Madera Ranchos’ Dalton Hill ranks second followed by Fresno’s Mattix Salmon, Panella, and rookie Brody Rubio of Manteca. A 30-lap feature is scheduled each night of championship weekend.
Pahule’s Super 600 lead is a much smaller one, with just a three-point cushion over Madera’s Logan Trevino. Pahule leads the series with three victories while Trevino is still searching for his first triumph of 2024. Salmon, Brentwood’s Isabel Barnes, and Tucker Lacaze of Rocklin round out the top-five drivers in the Winged machines. Super 600 also races in 30-lap features each night this weekend at Delta Speedway.
Five-time 2024 Restricted winner Hayden Stepps of Oakdale has stretched out her points lead in the division with a nearly insurmountable 52-point advantage. Jackson Tardiff of Vacaville has had a solid season with seven top-five finishes and looks to secure second in the championship. Two-time Jr. Sprints champion Briggs Davis of Manteca is off to a strong start in full-size Micros from third in the standings followed by Levi Osborne of Tracy and Austin Lee of Placerville. Each night will include a 25-lap feature for Restricted.
Potentially the most entertaining championship fight is among the youngest competitors at the speedway in the Jr. Sprints division. Citrus Heights’ Haven Sherman has just a four point lead over Heston Stepps of Oakdale. Sherman has two wins while Stepps has parked it in victory lane on three occasions. Oakley’s Lucas Fenn has surged to third in the standings with six top-five efforts. Easton Wright of Martinez and David Anderson of Clayton round out the top-five drivers. Jr. Sprints will race in 20-lap features both Friday and Saturday nights.
