Troy DeCaire, Jason Smith & Powell Win At MIS Saturday Night!

The King of the Wing Series presented by the Mobile Sports Authority roared back in to Mobile International Speedway Saturday night after a two year absence and the speed was worth the wait.
With qualifying speeds over 140MPH the big crowd gathered at Mobile’s oldest privately owned sporting venue knew they were in for a night of raw horsepower.
It took Tampa’s Troy DeCaire a few laps to jump to the lead but had to battle off fellow Floridian Mickey Kampgens late race charge.
The invasion of Canadians to MIS continued Saturday night with Ron Larson from Quesnel, British Columbia finishing third.
Sierra Jackson from Middleton, Idaho was fourth and Bobby Santos of Franklin, Massachusetts rounded out the top 5 on Saturday night.
It was the first race of the 2016 season for the winged warriors and the series rolls on to Montgomery Speedway for a Sunday competition. Friday night’s event at Pensacola’s 5 Flags Speedway was rained out.
In local racing action Jason Smith strolled to the win in the Bob’s Speed Shop Sportsmen, while Mark Barnhill, Shanna Ard and Jonathan Langham slugged it out for second.
In the Island Motor II Bombers BJ Leytham broke out to an early lead and took the checkered flag on the race track but was disqualified in the technical inspection line. Rusty Powell Jr. who had a great battle with Robert Loeper took the win and Jeremy Boddie was third
