BJ Wambold Scores Compact Win at Oswego

BJ Wambold would score the win on Friday night in the New York State Compact Championships at the Oswego Speedway. The win for Wombold earned him a $1,000 payday.

CJ Zukowski and Joey Warren led the field to the green flag for their 20-lap event to cap off the Friday portion of Classic Weekend, with Warren in the lead. Mike Cole would take over the lead on the backstretch working lap two. Cody Edelman would bring out the race’s first caution on lap three. Cole would continue to show the way as Greg Moldt moved into third place.

BJ Wombold would start 16thon the grid and would work his way through the field, going four wide to and by lap six, was entering the top five. Wombold would take away third as Moldt raced in second place. Wombold would use the outside of the track to take over the lead on lap eight and would check out on the field. After a lap 14 caution bunched the field back up, Wombold would take off in the lead with Tony Pettinelli racing in second place. Wombold would go on to score the win.

“We had to be patient and make passes and the car handled like a Cadillac”, Wambold said in victory lane.

Wombold would also run the fastest lap of the race, with a 22.693 second lap around “The Steel Palace”. Pettilini would finish in second and was followed to the line by Maggie Wambold, Micah Adams, and Greg Moldt.
