Pahule, Mibach, and Sherman Score During Seventh Points Race at Delta - Speedway Digest

Jeffrey Pahule of Brentwood continued a dominant season at Delta Speedway presented by Valley Strong Credit Union on Saturday night, earning his third consecutive sweep of the Super 600 and Non-Wing features. Pahule was joined by Clay Mibach of Placerville and Haven Sherman of Citrus Heights as weekend winners on the 1/7th mile dirt track.

Stockton’s Alex Panella kicked off the winged Super 600 competition with fast-time in time trials. Heat races were scored by Jackson Kohler of Sacramento and Fresno’s Raio Salmon.

Pahule started third for the 30-lap Super feature. Mattix Salmon of Fresno moved into the lead at the start with Isabel Barnes of Brentwood and Pahule in pursuit.

Salmon got gathered up in traffic as they collided in front of him in turn four. Both Pahule and Barnes drove underneath him but Salmon preserved the lead as the yellow flew.

Salmon looked poised to win when he put a lapped car between himself and Pahule. A red flag flew for Kohler going upside down in turn three to set up a green-white-checkered shootout for victory. Salmon unfortunately broke on the restart, allowing Pahule to drive around him to win followed by Barnes, Lacaze, Panella, and Madera’s Logan Trevino.

Non-Wing Micro Sprints led the pit area with 21 entries. Pahule pulled off a complete sweep in the wingless class, taking qualifying and the first heat race in addition to the main event triumph. Colin Kirby of Pleasanthill and Tucker Lacaze of Rocklin won the other two heat races.

The Non-Wing event would require a charge from eighth on the grid for Pahule. Ryan Holden of Lodi won the opening lap before Kirby used the outside to lead lap two. Mattix Salmon of Fresno spun out of a battle for sixth. With just eight laps in the books, Pahule restarted second, then charged underneath Kirby for the top spot but it was nullified by a three-car fracas in turn one.

Pahule gave it a second shot on the restart and finally completed the pass on lap ten. Pahule darted to a 1.468 second lead at the finish followed by Kirby, Lacaze, Holden, and Manteca’s TK O’Brien.

Restricted qualifying was topped by points leader Hayden Stepps of Oakdale. Clay Mibach won the heat race and lined up alongside Jackson Tardiff of Vacaville for the 25-lap feature.

Mibach led wire-to-wire but had company from tenth starting Levi Osborne of Tracy in lapped traffic on the final couple of circuits. Mibach topped Osborne by just .155 seconds in a thrilling finish. Tardiff was third ahead of Stepps and Davis.

Haven Sherman earned a perfect sweep in the Jr. Sprints racing as well. Sherman won both of her heat races and won the 20-lap feature from the pole position. Heston Stepps of Oakdale and David Anderson of Clayton were the other heat race winners.

Sherman never waived in the 20-lap feature while Stepps and Anderson dueled for second behind her. Sherman won by several car lengths followed by Stepps, Anderson, Lucas Fenn, and Logan Fenn.

Delta Speedway continues its 2024 season on August 31st and September 1st with two complete points races for the annual Dual at Delta.
