He’s only been in Richmond two months, but Richmond International Raceway President Dennis Bickmeier is ready to rappel 25 stories from the roof of the downtown SunTrust Center in support of the “Over The Edge” event to benefit Special Olympics Virginia. But he needs your help!
Special Olympics Virginia’s “Over The Edge” event, which takes place on Friday, October 21, at the SunTrust Center, is a fundraiser where participants are asked to raise $1,000, earning the opportunity to rappel nearly 400 feet. With the support of race fans and community members, Bickmeier is hoping to make a “towering” impact on the Commonwealth of Virginia and assist people with intellectual disabilities.

NASCAR returns to Richmond International Raceway this weekend for the “One Last Race to Make The Chase” doubleheader weekend. Saturday’s Wonderful Pistachios 400 is the final race before the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Advance tickets start at $45 and can be purchased online or by calling 866-455-7223.
The weekend begins Friday, September 9, with a full day of on-track activity, highlighted by the Virginia 529 College Savings 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race “under the lights.” Friday is a great option for the whole family, with children 12 and younger admitted free with a ticketed adult in general admission sections and advance tickets starting at $30.
