Continuing its commitment to volunteerism, the Richmond International Raceway staff assisted the Operation Paintbrush program in Henrico County today by fixing up a local resident’s home through much-needed repairs. The staff came out in full force to scrape, paint, repair railings and gutters and give the landscaping a facelift.
“We recognize our responsibility of giving back to our neighbors in Henrico County,” said Richmond International Raceway president Dennis Bickmeier. “In the short amount of time I’ve been here, I realize what a great community this is in which to live, work and play. The Richmond International Raceway team is committed to our volunteer efforts, and Henrico County’s Operation Paintbrush is a great opportunity to continue that initiative.”
Henrico County’s Operation Paintbrush is a program whereby volunteer groups are recruited to paint the homes of needy Henrico citizens. These are citizens without adequate resources or family help whose homes need painting and would only further deteriorate without assistance. Typically they are senior citizens, and most can be classified as very low income. Today’s volunteer effort is the third installment of Richmond International Raceway’s initiative. Earlier this summer, the staff assisted Meals on Wheels of Greater Richmond and the Central Virginia Foodbank. Through the NASCAR Unites campaign, The NASCAR Foundation is encouraging fans to pledge at least five hours of volunteer service in an effort to collectively generate more than one million hours of giving back to local communities.
