The group of rugged athletes arriving for the April 12-14 Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 400 NASCAR tripleheader weekend at Texas Motor Speedway are intent on leaving their competition in the “saw” dust.
Sporting flannel instead of Nomex, a bevy of old-school lumberjacks will be laying the lumber to their rivals at the DLW Timberworks Lumberjack Show that will highlight the free entertainment in the TMS Fan Zone during a weekend featuring the NASCAR Cup Series, Xfinity Series and CRAFTSMAN Truck Series.
The Lumberjack Show has been dazzling audiences for the past 25 years through a sport derived from our nation’s heritage. The lumberjacks will showcase their athleticism, strength, power and speed in a variety of different competitions including axe throwing, chainsaw races, log rolling, obstacle pole relay races, speed climbing, hot saws, speed carvings, various chops, and more.
The Fan Zone, located between entry gates 3-7, also will feature Sara Twister, The Red Trouser Show, face painters, balloon artists and 360-degree booths. The Fan Zone will be open all three days of on-track activity, beginning at 2 p.m. CT Friday, 8 a.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday.
A Twister is scheduled to touch down in the Fan Zone during race weekend and sure to bring disruption to the area. Sara Twister is a dynamic combination of the unique art of acrobatic archery with upbeat contortion acts, comedy and, if you are brave enough to raise that hand, audience participation routines.
Think part Robin Hood and part Lara Croft. Her award-winning “Ready. Aim. Fire.” show has performed on four continents and featured on popular television shows around the world.
The Red Trouser Show offers acrobatics along with comedy and plenty of eye-popping juggling of fire and knives. The Red Trouser duo of David Graham and Tobin Renwick, who have known each other since first grade, got their start with the internationally acclaimed Circus Smirkus.
They branched out on their own with The Red Trouser Show and have spent the past two decades traveling the globe with their award-winning show.
There also will be more than just the whine of chain saws in the Fan Zone as Fort Worth’s own Neon Prophets will provide the musical entertainment. This talented cover band will deliver the biggest and best ‘90s country songs that will have fans boot scooting all weekend long.
The weekend’s musical headliner will take to the stage on the Texas Motor Speedway frontstretch during pre-race activities for the Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 400 on Sunday, April 14.
Legendary Southern rockers and platinum recording artists 38 Special will be performing a free one-hour concert featuring their biggest hits like Hold on Loosely, Rockin’ Into the Night and Caught Up in You on the Machinery Auctioneers Pre-Race Stage beginning at 12:45 p.m. CT. Fans can upgrade their race-day experience with an additional Track Pass, including stage-front access for the concert, driver introductions and more, for just $75.
