Sprint Summer Showdown to Culminate at Atlanta Motor Speedway at AdvoCare 500 on Labor Day Weekend

There will be more than fighting for points positioning and the winner’s trophy up for grabs when the stars of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series battle under the lights on Labor Day Weekend in the AdvoCare 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. For up to five drivers, $3,000,000 will be on the line for themselves, their charities of choice and one lucky fan.

Drivers who win the August races at Indianapolis, Pocono, Watkins Glen, Michigan or Bristol will be eligible to win the Sprint Summer Showdown. If any of the race winners go to victory lane in the AdvoCare 500, that driver will be awarded $1,000,000. Not only will the winning driver get to cash in, but the driver’s chosen charity and one fan will also each be awarded $1,000,000.

Fans can enter the $1,000,000 competition each week at www.sprint.com/speed. Fans become eligible for selection by correctly picking the driver they believe will win each week’s race.

“There is already a tremendous amount of drama for the AdvoCare 500 with it being the next to last race before setting the field for the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup,” says Atlanta Motor Speedway President Ed Clark. “With drivers pulling out all the stops to get wins, each victory will be critical, especially to drivers trying to qualify for the Chase through the wild-card.

“The Sprint Summer Shootout will make victory lane a little more special at the five events leading into the AdvoCare 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. It is going to make for an interesting August as we head into Labor Day Weekend. This will be one of the more memorable aspects of the 2011 season, no doubt about it.”
