Dillon Motor Speedway hosted the 8thAnnual Fireworks 300 in front of a massive crowd on Saturday, July 5.

Ricky Locklair Jr. from Darlington, S.C. took home the $2,000 purse for the second Street Stock National event held at the speedway this season. Sonny Schoffen won the pole but later opted to start from the rear for a $500 bonus. He made his way up to second, but as he was racing side-by-side for the lead just shy of the halfway mark, his car went up in smoke due to a mechanical issue.

Jeff Melton was dominant all night until he pounded the outside wall in turn one on lap 68 while battling Locklair Jr. for the lead. The 100-lap feature ended under a green-white-checkered finish with Locklair getting the win. Bobby Tumbleston finished second, followed by Greg Barnett, Tommy Poole and Curtis Peeples.

Hal Goodson, another native of Darlington, S.C. led flag-to-flag in the 50-lap Super Truck feature. Jimmy Herrington finished a close second. Kevin Parsons finished third, followed by Brad Cox and Clay Thomas.

Ricky Locklair Jr. pulling triple duty (Street Stocks, Chargers and Mini Cup Stocks) rounded out the top-three. Ben Watford finished fourth, and Tom Sauls finished fifth.

Steve Chauncey was declared the winner of the Mini Cup Stock feature after Ricky Locklair Jr.’s car failed post-race inspection. Chalin Williamson finished second, and Bill Willis finished third. William Coonfield earned his first top-five of the season as he crossed the line in fourth. Chad Branham rounded out the top-five.
