Iowa Speedway Flies High with Wings, Wheels and Thrills at Fly Iowa 2011

The Iowa Aviation Promotion Group, in conjunction with Iowa Speedway, presents the Fly Iowa 2011 Wings, Wheels and Thrills free air show and car show on Saturday, Sept. 17 in Newton.

The day begins at the Newton Municipal Airport with a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. The aircraft exhibits and the annual Show N’ Shine Hot-Rod Car Show gates open at 9 a.m. and the air show begins at 1 p.m.

“Iowa Speedway is one of the premiere entertainment venues in the state, and all eyes will be on Newton during the Fly Iowa air show,” says Iowa Speedway President Jerry Jauron. “We’re excited to co-host an event filled with free activities for the entire family.”

In addition to the air show, Iowa Speedway will hold it’s annual Show N’ Shine Hot-Rod Car Show in the Newton Club parking lot with exhibits, food vendors and activities for the kids. Everyone is encouraged to stick around for the free Great American Stockcar Series (GASS) Race beginning at 5 p.m.

“It’s exciting to combine a great air show with a great car show for the people of Iowa and Newton,” says Fly Iowa 2011 Co-Chairman Ethan Nasalroad . “The Iowa Speedway has a great fan base and a reputation for providing world-class entertainment. We’re proud to partner with them for this event. It will be a day full of exciting events in Newton that you don’t want to miss.”

Admission is free to both the air show and car show, with a shuttle running from the Newton Municipal Airport to Iowa Speedway. Attendees also will have the opportunity to tour Iowa Speedway, purchase racecar ride-alongs, and helicopter and balloon rides.
