Charlotte Motor Speedway Announces Action-Packed 2014 Schedule

With nearly 100 days of racing, car shows, concerts and more already on the calendar, 2014 is shaping up to be another action-packed year at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The legendary 1.5-mile superspeedway, along with zMAX Dragway and The Dirt Track at Charlotte will entertain fans with NASCAR, NHRA and World of Outlaws races, millions of Christmas lights, monster trucks, anniversary celebrations and more.

NASCAR fans will be able to take in some of the most exciting events at The Greatest Place to See the Race. The 10 Day Blockbuster of Racing returns May 16 to May 25. NASCAR’s finest will hit the track on May 17 in an all-out dash for $1 million at the biggest blockbuster all-star event in all of sports, the 30th running of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race. The following weekend, every driver’s endurance will be tested at the 55th running of the Coca-Cola 600, the ultimate test of man and machine. In addition, Charlotte Motor Speedway will once again host the only Saturday night race in the Chase, the Bank of America 500, on Oct. 11. All weekends combine pole day qualifying, NASCAR Nationwide Series races and/or NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races.

Car lovers will find something at Charlotte Motor Speedway all year long. The spring AutoFair will take place April 3-6 and will return in the fall on Sept. 18-21. The world’s largest automotive extravaganza features a collector car auction, thousands of automobiles and 10,000 vendor spaces. This year, the speedway will celebrate 50 years of one of the greatest iconic pony cars, the Ford Mustang at the speedway and dragway on April 17-20. Classic car enthusiasts can also take in the Goodguys Southeastern Nationals, Oct. 24-26.

Fun for the whole family can be had this summer when the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series returns every Tuesday night in June and July. This grassroots racing series at Charlotte has served as a training ground for some of NASCAR’s brightest stars such as Dale Earnhardt Jr., Joey Logano, Reed Sorensen, Darrell Wallace Jr., Ryan Blaney and David Ragan.

Also, those looking for great deals on NASCAR merchandise can head to the speedway on Nov. 28 for the 22nd Annual Souvenir and Race Ticket Blow-Out. During the holiday season, Speedway Christmas, one of the largest holiday drive-through light shows in the country, returns for the fifth year, offering more than 3 million high-efficiency LED lights and 800 displays. Fans can take in the light show and everything it has to offer from Nov. 21 through Dec. 30.

In 2014, fans can experience one-of-a-kind entertainment at zMAX Dragway. The fastest-accelerating machines on the planet will go four-wide on April 11-13 at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals.

This unique drag racing event brings 40,000 horsepower roaring to life on the only four-lane, all-concrete drag strip in the world. The Bellagio of drag strips will also host the NHRA Carolina Nationals on Sept. 12-14, when competitors return to traditional two-wide racing to kick off the NHRA’s Countdown to the Championship. The Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour will also kick off the 2014 edition on June 7.

All dirt roads lead to Charlotte, as evidenced by The Dirt Track at Charlotte’s high-octane 2014 schedule. Fans looking for dirt racing action during the 10 Day Blockbuster of Racing can take in the May Showdown on May 23. In addition, children can get an exciting kick-off to a new school year at the Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash on Aug. 9.

The World of Outlaws World Finals hits the track on Nov. 6-8 and the top three dirt racing series will crown their champions at The Greatest Show on Dirt. Fans can cheer on the drivers of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, World of Outlaws Late Model Series and Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds battle it out on the lightning-fast four-tenths-mile clay oval. A sellout crowd is anticipated once again in 2014.

Everyone is sure to experience an event they’ll love on the 2014 schedule, from racing enthusiasts to music lovers. With great concerts like the Faith, Family and Freedom concert and the Carolina Rebellion, amazing racing action and cars all year round, 2014 is sure to impress and excite all fans.
