Winner of Guy Harvey outfitted NASCAR car

Homestead-Miami Speedway’s charitable arm, Driving for a Cause, and iconic marine wildlife artist Guy Harvey and The Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation have selected the winner of a specially-outfitted NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car.

Patricia Martin from Charlotte wins a Ford Fusion that is wrapped in an exclusive ocean-themed design by Harvey. Martin purchased the winning ticket during Ford Championship Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway. She was selected as the winner of the donation-based contest Monday afternoon.

The car giveaway benefits both Driving for a Cause and the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation.

‘When I entered the raffle I really did not think I would win,” said Martin. “I was just happy to support Guy Harvey’s marine conservation work. But I am excited to have won and am very glad that it is a Ford!’

“This has been a positive endeavor on many levels,” said Homestead-Miami Speedway President Matthew Becherer. “First, a fan wins a unique prize — a real NASCAR stock car with a one-of-a-kind design by the iconic Guy Harvey.  Perhaps best of all, it benefits Driving for a Cause, which will allow us to assist worthy charities in South Florida.”

“We are extremely pleased that a devoted NASCAR fan has won this special, one of a kind Guy Harvey race car,” said Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation President Steve Stock, who presented a check for $10,000 to Driving for a Cause on Nov. 17. “We are even more proud that sales of these tickets helped us make a meaningful financial contribution to such an important cause. We are grateful to everyone who supported us in this effort.”

Established in August of 2012 on the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Andrew, Driving for a Cause offers a number of opportunities to become involved and contribute to a charitable cause. Driving for a Cause operates under the umbrella of the NASCAR Foundation and aids South Florida youth and educational programs.
