Luke Bryan will Pace Sunday’s Pure Michigan 400 field

Country music superstar Luke Bryan will drive the pace car for Sunday’s Pure Michigan 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway.

The Academy of Country Music’s “Entertainer of the Year” will pace the 43-car field in a 2013 Ford Fusion Energi Hybrid, the official pace car of MIS.

Bryan is a guest of the No. 2 Miller Lite Ford team this weekend as he prepares to debut his new CD “Crash My Party.”

Industry sources and Billboard Magazine predict the country star’s latest album will sell at least 450,000 copies by the end of the tracking week Sunday. That would mark the largest sales week ever for Bryan, and the biggest for any male country artist since 2005.

“We’re excited to have Luke Bryan drive our sweepstakes Ford Fusion Energi Hybrid on Sunday, the culmination of a great partner promotion with Pure Michigan, Quicken Loans and Michigan International Speedway,” Tim Duerr, motorsports marketing manager for Ford Racing, said. “This race means a lot to us because it’s in our backyard and there’s an extra level of pride to join with Luke as our pace car driver in front of our employees, retirees, friends and family.”

Bryan’s likeness will also be featured on the hood of NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Keselowski’s car this weekend. In addition, Bryan will take control of the @MillerLite Twitter handle for live tweets during Sunday’s race.

Bryan joins an illustrious list of pace car drivers at Michigan International Speedway in recent years, including Detroit Red Wings former captain Niklas Lidstrom, Michigan State University basketball coach Tom Izzo and Seth Gold from TruTV’s “Hardcore Pawn.”
