NASCAR Champion Joe Nemechek To Auction Private Equestrian Estate Near Charlotte, North Carolina To The Highest Bidder Without Reserve

An equestrian property known for its premier facilities where a host of Olympic athletes train, and a custom residence on five acres that was originally built for NASCAR Legend Ernie Irvan, located just north of downtown Charlotte known as “Finncastle,” will sell at auction Without Reserve on August 2 nd, NYC-based Concierge Auctions has announced. Originally listed for $10.995 million, the approximately 139-acre property offers the ultimate in luxury living and development potential for 33 additional two- to five-acre homesites. The sellers are NASCAR champion Joe Nemechek and his wife, Andrea. Their property will sell to the highest bidder in cooperation with Hanes Walker and Thomas and Carole McKay of Pinnacle Sotheby’s International Realty. Prior to the property auction, a VIP NASCAR experience will be auctioned to benefit Speedway Children’s Charities.

“Everything about Finncastle is first-class, from its manicured entrance and crisp, white fences to the horse paddocks and pastures. The property is relaxing and feels very secluded,” stated Nemechek, who won the NASCAR championship in 1992 and continues to race. “The arena is world-class and the equestrian facility unparalleled, utilized by professional riders from across the country including 1992 Olympic bronze-medalist Michael Poulin and international Grand Prix rider Catherine Haddad, who was teaching here just a few days ago. The future owners could either maintain it as a boarding and training facility or could adjust the use to be solely private.”

“This property is incomparable to other equestrian estates in the area. Not only does it include an exquisite residence and top-of-the-line equestrian facilities, but also additional land with completed infrastructure for 33 homesites already in place. No shortcuts were taken in the construction or development planning, which renders great potential for the future owners,” Walker stated.

Located at 9280 West NC Highway 152, Finncastle is nestled just north of Charlotte in a secluded preserve where verdant pastures, serene woodlands and wildlife abound. The property boasts an 8,900-plus-square-foot custom main residence with five bedrooms, six full bathrooms and two half bathrooms. There is also a media room, a mirrored exercise room, a spectacular pool/spa with an outdoor kitchen, a three-car attached garage and a 5-car, climate-controlled detached garage that is a car enthusiast’s dream — complete with a lift, a half bathroom and an upstairs office. Its state-of-the-art equestrian amenities include 18 European-style, custom arch front 10 x 14′ stalls; a 136 x 240′ covered, lighted and enclosed arena with viewing and a sound system; an outdoor, lighted regulation dressage arena; a 60′ covered solid wall round pen with viewing; individual Triple Crown fenced paddocks; and miles of hacking trails with cross-country fences.

“Concierge Auctions has had extraordinary success with other equestrian properties, including our sales of the Vezelay estate in Unionville, Pennsylvania and Big Step Farm in Farmville, Virginia,” stated Laura Brady, Vice President of Marketing for Concierge Auctions. “Finncastle’s amenities are top-notch, and its location is also a huge selling point. It’s peaceful, serene and private, yet close to shopping and dining in downtown Charlotte.”
