Bryan Ortiz Ready to Rebound at Greenville Pickens Speedway

Fresh off of a race on a world famous high-banked half-mile oval, a flat, gritty half-mile track that grates tires is next on tap for Bayamon, Puerto Rico’s Bryan Ortiz. The second race on the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East schedule takes place Saturday, March 23 at the challenging Greenville (S.C.) Pickens Speedway, a facility that short track racing aficionados hold in high regard.

Ortiz and his No. 4 IMPACT Toyota for Rev Racing descend upon Greenville with experience. Between the two races at Greenville last season, Ortiz improved by five positions; he scored an 11th-place finish there in the March race and finished sixth in October. If the position increase continues along the same trend this weekend, another five-position jump would put him in the P1 spot. He qualified seventh and sixth for those two races, respectively.

Last outing… In the season-opening race at Bristol Motor Speedway, Ortiz averaged a fourth-place running position and was battling with another car for third with two laps remaining in the 125-lap contest when his right-front tire went flat. He nursed his car home to a 21st-place finish.

Bryan Ortiz, on rebounding from Bristol… “I’m looking forward to getting back in the car and getting a solid finish. With our result last week, we put ourselves in a hole in the point standings. We need to work hard and make sure it’s our worst finish of the year.”

Bryan Ortiz, on Greenville Pickens Speedway… “Greenville is a tough track on which to race. We’ve got a strong car ready, we’ll try to avoid any incidents and, hopefully, we can get a finish that we can build on for the rest of the season.”
