Jarett Andretti Eager to Return to Racing in 2013 with New Sponsor

While most of the country is still in its winter months, Jarett Andretti, the third-generation racer, is already planning for the spring and summer racing season ahead. Andretti announced today that he will be racing under the same roof as his famous family. Jarett will primarily race a sprint car under the Andretti Autosport Short Track banner at the race shop owned by his second cousin Michael Andretti in Indianapolis.

Joining Andretti this season will be Superior Auto, the car sales company that specializes in in-housing financing. The company has locations all over Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. This aligns perfectly with Andretti’s plan for a diverse schedule of events and class of cars in 2013.

Jarett, grandson of Aldo and son of John Andretti, will plan to spend the majority of his time in the Superior Auto sprint car racing at various tracks throughout Indiana including Gas City I-69 Speedway, Bloomington Speedway, Lincoln Park Speedway, Lawrenceburg Speedway and Kokomo Speedway.

In addition, Andretti has plans to race a supermodified both on the east and west coasts as well as possible opportunities in a NASCAR-style modified and asphalt late models. Also joining the young Andretti this year will be Window World, Boomerang Bay and Stoops Freightliner.

“I am very appreciative to have so many people backing our racing effort this year, especially Superior Auto,” said Andretti. “I look forward to representing Superior Auto on and off the racetrack and hope to put them in Victory Lane. This year’s schedule will allow me to become more diverse at many different tracks and I’m really excited to get started.”

“It’s also going to be helpful to have the resources and knowledge of everyone at Andretti Autosport,” said Jarett. “They are not only family to me, but also one of the premier open wheel race organizations. I enjoy spending time with Michael and Marco and I couldn’t think of a better place to be.”

President of Superior Auto, Chad Melchi, is also thrilled about the new partnership with Andretti.

“Jarett is the next line of great racers and people in the Andretti family,” said Melchi. “He’s proving himself to live in the footsteps of his great family name. All of us at Superior Auto want to be a part of his journey as he continues to grow. We’re a growing company as well so it just makes a lot of sense. We’re proud to be partners with Jarett and his race team.”

The young Andretti is already a very good driver with championships and other accolades on his fast-growing resume. He has already picked up championships in go-karts and the USAC Eastern Ignite Pavement Series. Andretti has also made his midget debut in Indianapolis and won his qualifying race in his first start before the feature was rained out. Last season he competed in supermodifieds and sprint cars capturing the Oswego (N.Y.) Speedway Rookie-of-The-Year honors in the supermodified class.

Andretti is currently a sophomore year at North Carolina State University in the honors program.
