Akinori Ogata to race Saturday Night at Gresham for MacDonald Motorsports

38 year old Japanese driver Akinori Ogata will makehis first start in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series this Saturday night at GreshamMotorsports Park (GMP).  Akinori will bepiloting the Kajima USA No. 49 Dodge Charger for MacDonald Motorsports in the SlackAuto Parts 150, the 6th of 14 K&N Pro Series races in 2012.

Growingup in Japan, Akinori raced motocross from 1987 – 1999.  In 2000, Ogata moved up to racing midgets onthe dirt track at Twin Ring Motegi.  In2003, Akinori began racing Late Models in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Serieswhile still living in Japan.  Ogata madestarts at Hickory, Caraway, Concord, Gresham, and Myrtle Beach Speedway beforemoving to the United States in 2010.

“I’mexcited to have Akinori in the racecar for us this weekend at Gresham,”explained Randy MacDonald (team owner).  Aki’sa really talented driver and I think we can put together some good finisheswith him this year.  We will have him inour K&N Pro Series car four times over the next few months starting thisweekend at Gresham.”
