Great third place qualifying run spoiled by bad luck at Bowman Gray

In his first start in a racecar in 18 months, Sean Caisse showed he’s still got it in him to run up front in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series.  Caisse drove the MacDonald Motorsports No. 49 Dodge Saturday night at Bowman Gray Stadium up front for the first portion of the race before bad luck ended his chances at a top-five finish.  When the checkered flag flew on the NASCAR Hall of Fame 150, Sean was left with a dissapointing 17th place result.

“17th doesn’t show at all how strong our car was throughout the day on Saturday at Bowman Gray,” says Caisse.  “My crew chief Mark Durgin and I worked very well together and were able to get my MacDonald Motorsports No. 49 handling great.  We were a top-five car during practice and showed that with our third place qualifying effort.”

The race started out well for Caisse as he ran in the top-five for the beginning segment.  Being stuck on the outside during the double file restarts was a huge disadvantage and kept putting Sean further back in the field.  Eventually contact with the right front on one of those restarts hurt the handling on Caisse’s No. 49 Dodge Charger. 

“The car just wasn’t the same after the contact and then we got caught up in one of the track-blocking pileups which cut down our left front, explained Sean.  “We went a few laps down in the pits and just couldn’t do anything after that.  It’s unfortunate that we couldn’t bring back a strong finish when we had such a good car but that’s racing.  It was a lot of fun working with all the people here at MacDonald Motorsports and I’m very thankful for the opportunity.  I hope I can get the chance to drive for them again here soon.”

The next race for MacDonald Motorsports in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series will take place this Saturday night at Gresham Motorsports Park.  The Slack Auto Parts 150 will take the green flag at approximately 8:00pm EST
