NKNPSE: Max McLaughlin Scores First Career Win at Watkins Glen International

Max McLaughlin took home his first NASCAR K&N Pro Series East victory on Friday at Watkins Glen International. The Great Outdoors RV Superstore 100 ended prematurely as storms moved into the area with eight laps to go – resulting in a one-hour red-flag period.

McLaughlin dominated the event in his No. 1 Toyota as he led all 34 laps of the 41-lap scheduled event. The driver from Carolina leaves with four top five and six top 10 finishes through eight races in 2019.

Chase Cabre will leave New York with a runner-up finish on Friday. Cabre, piloting the No. 4 Toyota from Florida, started fourth and sat 9.725 seconds behind McLaughlin on the last completed lap.

Cabre has two K&N East wins in 2019 and sits third in driver points.

Sam Mayer, winner of last weekend’s K&N combination race at Iowa Speedway, came across the stripe in third. Mayer will leave the road course facility with his seventh top five and top 10 finish in the K&N East division.

Mayer leads the driver standings by six points over ninth-place finisher Derek Kraus. Tanner Gray, who finished 11th, sits fourth in points while Watkins Glen winner Max McLaughlin sits fifth.

Ty Gibbs and Ruben Garcia Jr. rounded out the top five.

Dylan Murry, Spencer Davis, Dale Quarterley, Derek Kraus and Colin Garrett rounded out the top 10.

The Great Outdoors RV Superstore 100 will air on NBCSN at 6:00 p.m. ET. on Wednesday, August 7.

The next race for the series will be at Bristol Motor Speedway on August 15th. The Bush’s Beans 150 will air live on FansChoice.TV.
