Sam Mayer dominated the Casey’s General Store 150 on Friday at Iowa Speedway in his No. 21 Chevrolet. The Wisconsin driver started the event on the pole and led 139 of the 150 laps to score his second victory in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series this year.
Mayer entered the combination event, the first of two scheduled for this year between the East and West divisions, with five top five and five top 10 finishes through six starts.
His last win earlier in the year came at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Ty Gibbs had one of the strongest cars of the night at Iowa Speedway as he made a late-race charge for the lead. Unlucky for him, respectively, Gibbs came 0.864 seconds short of taking home the checkered flag.
The driver of the No. 17 Toyota had to start at the rear of the field after failing post-qualifying inspection and making unapproved adjustments.
Ruben Garcia Jr. rounded out the top three finishers at the 0.875-mile track on Friday. Garcia started third on the leaderboard and scored his second top five and fourth top 10 finish of the year.
Derek Kraus, highest finishing K&N West driver, and Chase Cabre rounded out the top five.
Tanner Gray, Drew Dollar, Trevor Huddleston, Spencer Davis and Max McLaughlin rounded out the top 10.
Jagger Jones will take home the 11th spot after he and teammate Trevor Huddleston made contact that spun Jones below the start / finish line. The driver of the No. 6 Ford started 11th on the scoring monitor and ran top five at one point.
Hailie Deegan will leave Iowa Speedway with a 12th-place finish in her No. 19 Toyota. Deegan started ninth on the leaderboard and was running 10th before the final restart with four laps remaining.
The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will return to action at Watkins Glen on August 2nd.
As for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, they’ll return to action at Evergreen Speedway on August 17.
The two-racing series will meet once again for a combination event at Worldwide Technology Raceway on August 24th.
