Lucas Oil 200 driven by General Tire to Power Up 2019 ARCA Superspeedway Challenge

The Lucas Oil 200 driven by General Tire serves as the 67th season opener for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, but it will also serve as the opening round of the 2019 General Tire Superspeedway Challenge, a nine-race series-within-a-series that takes place on tracks longer than one mile in length.

ARCA has awarded a superspeedway championship each year dating back to 1984 when Davey Allison drove his own self-owned car to the big track title. Last year’s winner was team owner Matthew Miller, who fielded cars for overall series champion Sheldon Creed.

Notable previous Superspeedway Challenge winners include Cathy Venturini (1987, 1991, 2012), James Finch (1993, 1994), Larry Clement (1998, 2001, 2005, 2006), Ken Schrader (1999, 2017),  Bill Gerhart (2004), Ray Evernham (2007), and Billy Venturini (2016).

Races on the General Tire Superspeedway Challenge schedule for 2019 after Daytona include the General Tire 200 at Talladega Superspeedway on April 26, the General Tire 150 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 23, the General Tire #AnywhereIsPossible 200 at Pocono Raceway on May 31, the Zomongo 200 at Michigan International Speedway on June 7, the ARCA Gateway 150 at Gateway Motorsports Park on June 22, the ARCA Chicagoland 150 at Chicagoland Speedway on June 27, the ARCA Pocono 150 at Pocono Raceway on July 26, and the ARCA Kansas 150 at Kansas Speedway on October 18.

The races sponsored by General Tire, events at Daytona, Talladega, Charlotte, and Pocono, will be double-points events.

Each of the General Tire Superspeedway Challenge races with the exception of the event at Gateway will be televised live on FS1 or FS2. The Gateway race will be shown live on MAVTV.
