Bret Holmes to Return to Full-Time ARCA Racing Series Competition for the 2019 Season

Bret Holmes Racing (BHR) announced today they will field a full-time entry in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards for the 2019 season with driver Bret Holmes.

The Munford, Ala., native began racing in the series on a part-time basis in 2016 with 2015 ARCA Racing Series champion Grant Enfinger as his crew chief. The following season, Holmes competed as a full-time driver where he capped off the year sixth in the driver’s championship point standings. Over the course of three seasons in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, Holmes has amassed 41 starts and garnered six top-five and 26 top-10 finishes.

Alongside his driving duties at BHR, Holmes is also enrolled full-time at Auburn University. The 21-year-old is currently obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Building Science.

“It’s going to be great to run the entire ARCA Racing Series season this year,” said Holmes. “When you’re behind the wheel every race, you really get in tune with your car and team. I’m pretty eager to head down to Daytona this week for the open test. We’ve been working hard over the off season to prepare, and I think we’re going to unload with a fast Chevrolet. I know I’ll have to work twice as hard to balance school and racing, but I’m more than ready. I’m looking forward to what this year holds for all of us at BHR.”

Shane Huffman has been named crew chief for the No. 23 team. Huffman brings seven years of experience from a top the pit box. Working with various drivers, Huffman has called the shots in nine ARCA Racing Series events where he scored four victories, two pole awards, six top-five and seven top-10 finishes.

“I’m honored to work with such a great team,” said Huffman. “BHR has provided us with all of the tools we need to be competitive this season. We’ve put together a strong team and have a talented driver behind the wheel. We have a solid plan for the test session at the end of the week that will allow us to build our notebook for the season-opener at Daytona (International Speedway) next month. It’s going to be a good season for this (No.) 23 team.”

Holmes’ sponsor for the No. 23 Chevrolet SS will be announced at a later date.

“We are finalizing the rest of the details for the 2019 season as we speak,” said Nic Moncher, General Manager at BHR. “We recently moved into a new facility in Mooresville (N.C.). The new shop gives us room to expand and bring more of our team operations in-house and under one roof. We are continuing our partnership with GMS Chassis and are looking forward to working with them this season.”

Holmes, Huffman and crew will head to Daytona International Speedway this week to kick off their season with the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards open test that is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 11 and Saturday, Jan. 12.
