“We were saddened to learn of the passing of Mari Hulman George. Mari left her imprint on everything she touched in life. She was synonymous with the Indianapolis 500, open-wheel racing, and as a leader in business. Mari was always present at the awards ceremony to honor the Indy 500 champion and all the racers. It was also an honor to have Mari at the event because of her role in helping to create such an iconic race with exceptional traditions. It was special to learn that decades ago Mari was instrumental in inviting thousands of Indianapolis school children to visit the track to learn about the connection between education and motorsports. On behalf of Chevrolet, our thoughts and prayers go out to the Hulman George family.”
