Universal Technical Institute Welcomes Senior White House Advisor Ivanka Trump, Rep. Ted Budd, and Rep. Richard Hudson to Mooresville, N.C. Campus

Universal Technical Institute (UTI: NYSE) hosted Senior White House Advisor Ivanka Trump, Rep. Ted Budd, who represents North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District, and Rep. Richard Hudson, who represents North Carolina’s 8th Congressional District, to its NASCAR Technical Institute (NASCAR Tech) campus Wednesday to talk workforce development.

Trump, Budd and Hudson toured NASCAR Tech’s state-of-the-industry facilities, including the CNC and NASCAR Spec Labs, where they participated in hands-on demonstrations, learned about UTI’s cutting-edge programs and heard about the myriad opportunities and growing demand for technicians in auto, CNC machining, and more. The U.S. Department of Labor projects that there will be an estimated 120,000 job openings for transportation technicians alone, per year, through 2026.

“This is an incredible facility,” said Trump. “The reality is, we have to fundamentally re-think human potential. It’s about aligning the skills taught in the classroom with the jobs available in the modern economy.”

“It’s always inspiring when I come here.” said Budd.

Trump, Budd and Hudson also participated in a roundtable discussion with NASCAR Technical Institute campus president Jennifer Bergeron, current NASCAR Tech students and graduates, Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver Austin Dillon, and Richard Childress, team owner of Richard Childress Racing. Childress noted how well the NASCAR Tech graduates he’s hired are prepared to work in what is now a high-tech industry, because modern cars and trucks are powered by integrated computer systems.

“UTI graduates are superstars.” said Childress.

“As the workforce changes, the need for skilled employees continues to grow,” said Bergeron. “We give students skills they can put to work in the real world, right away, and we train them for the jobs that are in demand.”

NASCAR Technical Institute is the exclusive educational provider for NASCAR and the only campus in the country to offer NASCAR-endorsed training. NASCAR Tech’s Mooresville, N.C. campus offers the standard Universal Technical Institute core automotive training program, with an optional 15-week elective to train students preparing for a career in motorsports. The 15-week elective trains students in everything from engines, fabrication, and welding, to aerodynamics and pit crew essentials. Through NASCAR Tech’s elite Spec Engine program, select students have the opportunity to build engines that will compete in NASCAR-sanctioned races.

The school’s 36-week CNC Machining Technology program provides students with the hands-on training and high-tech skills needed to become a computerized numerical control machinist. CNC machinists produce a wide range of precision products, including high-performance engine parts, industrial components, and medical equipment.
