Thad Moffitt Ready to Make Pocono Raceway Debut

After scoring his first ARCA Racing Series Top-10, Thad Moffitt is now ready to make his big track debut at the Pocono (Pa.) Raceway this weekend in the ARCA Racing Series. Performance Plus Motor Oil will be the primary sponsor of Moffitt and the No. 46 Empire Racing Group team.

Moffitt, a RPM development driver competing in NASCAR Late Model competition and the ARCA Racing Series, finished tenth at the Toledo (Ohio) Speedway in his last ARCA start. It was his first Top-10 finish in only his sixth ARCA start. The finish helped Moffitt gain momentum heading into Pocono Raceway.

“I’ve had a lot more attention since our last race,” said Moffitt. “It just gives me and our team a lot more confidence, and we’ll need it this weekend. It’s a whole new deal for us, racing at Pocono. It’s my first big track and I’ll have a lot to learn when we practice. Our plan is to run a bunch of laps so I can get used to the track. We’ll then be ready for the race.”

Performance Plus Motor Oil has supported Moffitt since he began racing in late models and in the ARCA Racing Series. They will again be on the hood and sides of the No. 46 with Moffitt as he takes the next step in his racing career.

“Performance Plus has been one of the first brands to sponsor me and help me get to this point,” added Moffitt. “Running with Performance Plus oil on my side gives me extra confidence and I want to thank them for being with me. I think our car looks great and I get pretty excited to race their colors. I want to get a good finish for them on Saturday.”

Moffitt will also debut a new associate sponsor this weekend. Fence Armor, the world’s leading post protection manufacturer, will be on the No. 46 for the remainder of the season in both ARCA and late model competition. Fence Armor has supported the Petty family since meeting them through Victory Junction last year. Moffitt is also supported by Transportation Impact and Hostetler Ranch.

Moffitt is a 17-year-old native from Trinity, N.C. and is the son of Brian and Rebecca Petty-Moffitt. He started racing a go-kart and a quarter midget before moving to a Limited Late Model and now the ARCA Racing Series.  A high school student, Moffitt grew up going to the track with his grandfather and watching his Uncle Kyle race. He is the 2016 Southeast Limited Late Model champion.
