Shepherd’s NASCAR Pinty’s Series Plans for 2018

Pete Shepherd III and Jacombs Racing are teaming up for a handful of NASCAR Pinty’s Series races this year.  Their first start of the season will take place on Saturday June 16th at Jukasa Motor Speedway.

“It’s a great place for us to start the season. I was fortunate enough to turn a lot of laps there last year and I am really comfortable with the place,” stated Shepherd.

It will be Shepherd’s 25th career start in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series and his 4th start with Jacombs Racing. “A lot of people may not remember but I had a brief stint with Dave (Jacombs) in 2008.  He is a guy who never cuts corners with his race team, everything is meticulous, but more importantly his cars are always fast,” said the young veteran.

Jacombs Racing is coming off a Championship campaign with Alex Labbe.  This year Shepherd will be racing alongside driver Adam Martin. Having a teammate will be nothing new for Pete III.

“I’ve had plenty of experience racing with guys out of the same shop.  To me it’s a benefit to be able to share information like that.  I think that Jacombs Racing does a fantastic job with setting up the cars and I know that we will be really close right out of the trailer at every track.”

Shepherd III will also have a familiar name on the car with a very familiar family number.  He will be racing the #79 National Exhaust Ford.  His colours will mirror his Father’s (Pete Shepherd Jr.) early 90’s paint scheme.

“I thought it was a great opportunity to bring back some of my favorite memories as a child.  My father is my racing hero and the timing was great to honour his success.  He retired at the age of 32 so that I could pursue my racing dreams and I am that age now.  I can’t thank Tom Baker from National Exhaust enough for buying into this paint scheme with me, and if we can re-create some of the victory lane photos that my Dad, and family, did back in the early 90’s we will be okay!”

Shepherd will follow up the Jukasa race with a trip out to Quebec City’s Autodrome Chaudiere for the first time. After that he hopes mix in a few more events before the Series finale back at Jukasa Motor Speedway.

“I am confident we will be able to get out East to Antigonish, but I really would like to do the Toronto Indy this season.  I think I can showcase how strong my road course skills have become.  New Hampshire is also not out of the question, so follow me on social media for the latest news!”
