Jeff Fultz Returns To Seat At Concord With Walker Motorsports

In what has been an instantly successful pairing, Jeff Fultz will pilot the No. 15 Furniture by Walker Toyota again this weekend at Concord Speedway in a PASS South super late model event. The race will mark the third race of the year for the duo.

Walker Motorsports owner Chris Walker has very publicly discussed the informal nature of his relationship with Fultz and the other crew members on the team. According to him, the team gets together as everyone’s schedules allow away from their pre-exisiting commitments within the industry. And while they may race infrequently, they frequently compete for wins when they do as evidenced by two top five finishes in two starts this season including a win at Myrtle Beach.

This weekend, the gang reunites yet again to tackle Concord Speedway, a half-mile tri-oval where racers must be super precise or risk a high-speed trip into the concrete retaining wall at any of the speedway’s three corners. Fultz has had success at Concord in the past, capturing a pole position in the former NASCAR All-Pro Series in 1998 before a mechanical failure ended his bid at victory 26 laps short of the finish.

“I love racing there at Concord,” Fultz emphatically stated about this weekend’s race. “We talked about it a for a couple of weeks and I finally said ‘let’s do it.’ We’ve been so busy at Fury that we’ve been working on it here and there. We’ll finish it up on Wednesday night and get ready to go over there.”

Walker admitted other factors may have also been in play in Fultz’s decision to run at the half-mile close to home.

“For some reason, all of us really like going to Concord and my cars seem to always be fast there,” said Walker of his Toyotas. “We’ve had Brad and Clay Rogers, AJ Frank, and now Fultzy in the car here and every single one of them felt they had a chance to win until something freak happened. If we can keep the car in one piece and the gremlins away, I really believe we’ve got yet another chance to go to victory lane this weekend.”

Again, Fultz echoed the sentiments of his car owner in regards to their ability to claim a win this weekend.

“I’ve always loved running the modified there and the supers with PASS there,” Fultz, the co-owner of Fury Racecars said. “It’s just one of the kind of tracks I enjoy because it’s fast and has three different corners. I really think we’ll have a shot to win, of course. Anytime I run there, I seem to have a shot to win. Last time I ran there I had a chance to win but got cut down on late and knocked the nose in, then got banged around on a restart.”

The Old Glory 125 hits the track for practice on Thursday at Concord Speedway with raceday activities commencing at 1:30pm for practice and time trial qualifying beginning at 5pm. Racing begins at 7pm with the super late model feature scheduled to run second on the evening.
