Day lapped in 1:39.129 around the historic Belgian track to top the ELITE 1 Superpole Session by 0.299 seconds on a very strong Marc Goossens (#90 Braxx Racing Ford Mustang). Defending champion Anthony Kumpen (#24 PK Carsport Chevrolet SS) came 0.041 seconds short of the front row and will start the ELITE 1 Final 1 from third place. Title contender Frederic Gabillon (#3 Tepac RDV Compétition Ford Mustang) and Stienes Longin (#11 PK Carsport Chevrolet SS) completed the top-5 and the Belgian led the Junior Trophy.

“It was a pretty good qualifying for us here today at Circuit Zolder”, said Day, who scored his second pole of the season. “We knew that we are very quick here so we were looking forward to this session. The CAAL Racing team did a very good job and prepared the car very well but Marc Goossens was very quick and I was worried I wouldn’t get the pole. He definitely pushed me to the limit. Now all I think about is the first Final today. Nothing is decided until it is over. I am hoping for a good and safe race and I want to get a good result today.”

Borja Garcia (#7 Racers Motorsport Ford Mustang) will have to come from sixth to chase the NWES title while Freddy Nordstrom (#44 CAAL Racing Chevrolet SS) and Thomas Ferrando (#37 Knauf Racing Team Ford Mustang) will start from the fourth row. Lucas Lasserre (#33 Mishumotors Chevrolet SS) and Gianmarco Ercoli (#9 Racers Motorsport Ford Mustang) completed the top-10 ahead of Wilfried Boucenna (#73 Knauf Racing Team Ford Mustang) and Salvador Tineo Arroyo (#54 CAAL Racing Chevrolet SS).

Marko Stipp (#46 Racing Total Chevrolet SS) led the Challenger Trophy in 15th position while trophy points leader Marconi De Abreu (#47 RDV Compétition Ford Mustang) will take the green flag in 17th place.

In the ELITE 2 Division Thomas Ferrando made another step towards the title by grabbing the pole position with a 1:40.908 in a frenetic ELITE 2 Superpole session that saw the Knauf Racing Team monopolize the first row.

A red flag with 3:30 minutes to go forced everybody to go for their fastest lap with the checkered flag waving and it was Ferrando who came out quickest, 0.368 ahead of his teammate Paul Guiod (#73 Knauf Racing Team Ford Mustang).

“We are really happy to start the weekend here at Zolder with the pole position”, said Ferrando, who got his four career pole position and the second of the 2017 season. “We worked the whole season to be in this position here in Belgium. The car is very efficient and quick and that’s thanks to my Knauf Racing team. I hope to win the race and it is incredible to have both Knauf cars on the front row. My teammate Paul Guiod did a great job too. We hope it will be a close and clean race today.”

Rookie Cup leader Felipe Rabello was third fastest and will start alongside Guillaume Deflandre (#46 Racing Total Chevrolet SS) from the second row.

Ulysse Delsaux (#31 RDV Compétition Ford Mustang) completed the top-5 ahead of Guillaume Dumarey (#24 PK Carsport Chevrolet SS). Justin Kunz (#11 PK Carsport Chevrolet SS), Gil Linster (#44 CAAL Racing Chevrolet SS), Maciej Dreszer (#9 Racers Motorsport Ford Mustang) and Marconi De Abreu (#47 RDV Compétition Ford Mustang) rounded out the top-10 ahead of Martin Doubek (#5 Renauer Motorsport Toyota Camry) and Nicki Petersen (#33 Mishumotors Chevrolet SS).

Jerry De Weerdt (#78 Braxx Racing Ford Mustang) led the Legend Trophy in 13th place, while Carmen Boix Gil (#1 Alex Caffi Motorsport Ford Mustang) was fastest in the Lady Cup in 20th.
