ARCA: Christopher Bell Victorious in Scott 150 at Chicagoland Speedway

The Scott 150 at Chicagoland Speedway was filled with plenty of action on Thursday evening at the 1.5-mile oval. That action included a two-lap shootout that saw Christopher Bell pull out a surprise victory in a spectacular green-white-checker finish.

The race was sent into overtime after race leader Michael Self had a right front tire explode on the backstretch. It slowed the field for the fourth time of the night and handed the lead over to Ty Majeski. Austin Theriault took the lead following the restart and Christopher Bell followed suit.

Self went on to a DNF finish of 19th.

Bell, a 22-year old from Norman, Oklahoma, led just two circuits enroute to his third career ARCA Racing Series victory. He now holds three victories through five career starts in the series.

Austin Theriault sat second when the overtime event came to a close. Theriault started the night in seventh and stayed upfront for majority of the evening. With six victories in the season, Theriault has captured 14 top five and 17 top 10 finishes with Ken Schrader Racing.

Brandon Jones started the night on the pole and led eight of the 102 circuits. Jones, a development driver under the Richard Childress Racing banner, will round out the top three finishers in the Scott 150.

Ty Majeski led the field back to green with two laps remaining. However, Majeski, one of the drivers to watch coming into the event, slipped back to seventh following the restart. It marks his third top 10 finish of the season.

The ARCA Racing Series will head to Kentucky Speedway for the Crosley Brands 150. The event will take place on September 22nd at 8:00 p.m. ET. live on FOX Sports 1.
