Raphael Lessard forced to withdraw form the Border War 250 due to mechanical failure

Raphaël Lessard, 15-year-old driver from St-Joseph-de-Beauce, was supposed to participate in the Border War 250 in South Carolina tonight for a joint Southern Super Series (SSS) and CARS Tour organized race. However, he will not be able to take part in the event due to a mechanical failure.

The driver of the Toyota Camry #99 FRL Express/Toyota-TRD/JBLAudio prepared by David Gilliland Racing tested the car this morning on the Anderson Motor Speedway, but a mechanical problem which cannot be fixed at the track put an abrupt end to his weekend.

“It is too bad, the team worked hard on the car as it was not at its best yesterday. This morning, the car was getting better, and with new tires it would have been perfect, but that’s when the engine stopped. There is nothing we can do on site unfortunately, there is nothing more we can do other than coming back stronger next time,” said the disappointed Toyota Racing Development (TRD) driver.

Raphaël’s next race will be on the Anderson Speedway oval, in Anderson, Indiana, for the Red Bud 400, sanctioned by the CRA series, on June 24.
