Garrett Marchant Named Race 101 Scholarship Recipient

They say that to be the best you need to learn from the best.  Garrett Marchant has been given that opportunity thanks to a scholarship to attend the Race 101 program in Denver, NC.  The Roanoke Rapids, NC native could not be more excited to accept the scholarship and attend such a prestigious program.

The Race 101 Driver Scholarship Program focuses on working with specially designated young drivers between the ages of 12 to 28 from the US and Canada through an application process. The program lasts over the course of a year, with proven teaching and coaching methods that give the students one on one time with instructors, classroom time, track time, hands-on experience as well as homework assignments.

In 2012 Garrett Marchant will be racing full time in the #77 Lone Star Transportation LLM. He will be running the Limited Late Model Series, a new series to the rookie, as he goes for the Championship and Rookie of the Year honors at Southern National Motorsports Park.  The program will help Garrett learn how to successfully tell his crew chief and team members the changes necessary to make the car handle better.

Garrett noted “it’s really cool to be selected as one of the drivers from Canada and the United States” which will allow the drivers to learn from one another.  Furthermore, Garrett is most excited about learning how to set his car up for race day.

Tony Blanchard is the founder of Race 101 and with his twenty plus years in motorsports he will be teaching Garrett and his fellow scholarship winners the ropes of racing. When he has graduated from the program, Garrett hopes to have “learned to be the best driver on and off the track.”

During the course of Garrett’s experience with the Race 101 program make sure to check out Garrett’s personal blog, which can be found on www.garrettmarchant.com.  On his blog Garrett will give his fans an inside look at how he is progressing in the school.
