For the first time in its history, NASCAR’s Drive for Diversity team, Rev Racing, will host siblings in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKNPSE). Brothers and Florida natives, Collin and Chase Cabre, were both selected to compete with Rev Racing for the 2017 NKNPSE season. This Sunday will mark the first time the brothers will drive against each other as teammates, and as competitors.
Rev Racing, NASCAR Drive for Diversity’s competition arm, hosts four drivers in the K&N Pro Series East, and two in the Whelen All-American Series each season. Through a competitive application process, minority and female drivers are invited to partake in a rigorous combine event, testing their physical and mental racing abilities. Only six drivers are selected from the combine to take a seat in one of the major NASCAR series as part of Rev Racing. The brothers were selected after the combine held last October at New Smyrna Speedway.
Collin and Chase began racing in Motocross at the age of four. By the ages of 10 and seven, they were both competing competitively in go-karts at Dirt Devil Speedway in Land O Lakes, FL. The brothers continued to race at different levels and in different series throughout the course of their careers.
Collin Cabre recently finished an impressive second season in the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Program, garnering four top-5 and six top-10 finishes as part of Rev Racing. Collin was also a part of the elite 2016-2017 NASCAR Next Class in 2015. In 2016, in his rookie K&N Pro Series East season, he won the season finale at Dover International Speedway and finished 6th in overall point standings.
“I believe racing against Chase will be the same as if it was with anyone else,” said Collin Cabre. “We are all going for one goal and that is to win. Beginning my third year [in the NKNPSE], I will mentor him on the driving side of things as much as I can. We have raced against each other in some small Sprint Car races years ago, but it has definitely been a minute. I am excited to see what this season will bring.”
Chase Cabre will join his brother on the Rev Racing roster this year after an impressive on-track career, marking the first time siblings will run alongside each other in the K&N Pro Series. Between 2011 and 2013, Chase Cabre earned 12 race wins in 21 starts in a 600 Mini Sprint Car. He was also a two-time Fall Brawl Champion at the Ocala Bullring. In 2016, at Hickory Motor Speedway, he averaged a 4th place finish, as well as setting two poles throughout the season.
“Just being able to race in the NKNPSE is an honor in itself, let alone to be a part of such an amazing organization like Rev Racing” said Chase Cabre. “As far as racing against Collin, it’s like just playing Xbox as kids, except it’s more glorified so the stakes are much, much higher.”
From the Drive for Diversity Program’s start, Rev Racing has had 17 wins, 65 top-5, and 124 top-10 finishes in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, with drivers finishing in the top-10 in points in every season. The Cabres are ready to add to those rankings and have their sights set on the National Series.
Rev Racing’s season opener will take place on Sunday, February 19th, 2017 at New Smyrna Speedway. Qualifying will begin at 5:05 pm, followed by the autograph session at 6:30 pm and the Jet Tools 150 at 7:30 pm EST.
