Year two of the Las Vegas GP is off and running, this time without an opening practice hitch during the inaugural event when eight minutes into the opening round Carlos Sainz racing machine would break loose a manhole cover damaging his car and the track.
First Practice: In the closing minutes of the first last minute session Russell would speed to the top of the board with a time of 1:35:001 followed by Hamilton nearly four-tenths back with a time of 1:35:397.
Norris, who is in a championship fight, finished up the session with a time of 1:35:954 followed by Leclerc and Verstappen. To win the championship this weekend, Verstappen will need to finish in front of Norris providing the pair collect points in Saturday’s event.
Second Practice: In the second practice of the night Hamilton would take the fastest spot in the session by just 0.011 with a time of 1:33.825 over Norris time of 1:33.836 followed by Russell, Sainz and Leclerc rounding out the top-five in speed.
Verstappen would end up 17th on the board with a time of 1:35.834.
Final round of practice will get underway at 9:25 p.m. ET tonight on ESPNews followed by qualifying on Saturday morning at 12:55 a.m. ET on ESPN.
The F1 Las Vegas GP is scheduled for 50 laps (309.9km 192.6 miles) with green flag just after 1 a.m. ET on ESPN.
