— Abacus Racing announced today that Muskogee, Oklahoma native Kaylee Bryson will be back behind the wheel of the #58 as a teammate to Logan Seavey for the both races at Placerville Speedway (November 15-16, 2024) and at Ventura Speedway on November 29, 2024. She will have Indy Powersports as her primary sponsor, who provided support for her BC39 program in September at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
“I really liked working with the team during the BC39. I felt like we got along well right away, and we had good results. Making the A-Main was the goal, and I was very happy when we accomplished that”, said Bryson who finished 21st in the main feature. Bryson continued, “Brent (Cox, Team Principal) had talked about doing some more races, and right after the final feature at Indy, he said ‘how about a few races in California and the Chili Bowl?’, and I was like that sounds great!”
Cox added, “Well, first of all, Kaylee gave myself and Abacus our first win (when she won her qualifying race) of any kind at IMS and that was something that was very special to me and the team. The team really liked working with her from the start, so it was a natural fit to get her some more races while we also prepare for the Chili Bowl.”
Bryson stated she likes both Placerville Speedway and Ventura Speedway, and to know she will contest those races as she prepares for her next Chili Bowl attempt is something that will give her confidence as the races go on.
“When I got in the car at Indy, I was bit rusty, but the car was really good and I just needed to trust it more and more as my laps accumulated. To be able to run Placerville and Ventura, and to be part of the Hangtown 100 as well as Turkey Night are the kind of races you really like as a racer” continued Bryson.
Bryson has had success at Ventura, qualifying fastest in 2021 and leading laps while finishing fifth, and became the first woman in Chili Bowl history to qualify for the A-Main just a few months later.
Cox continued, “I can tell you this. She is not going to these races just to show up. She wants to win and believes she can. She has come close in a midget, and I would love to see her improve on her best ever finish in a USAC midget which is second.”
In addition to her primary sponsorship from Indy Powersports, she will have support from Mission Roofing, Chernoff Cosmetic Surgeons, Audiology Associates, Indy Custom Stone, CG CPAs, Forecheck Marketing and AP Driver Development.
With Logan Seavey driving for Kevin Swindell, Bryson will contest the Chili Bowl driving the #57, the number that Logan carried in becoming the 2023 USAC National Midget Champion, and most recently the 2024 USAC Amsoil Sprint Car Champion. It is a number becoming synonymous with Abacus who became just the second entrant in the history of USAC to win the USAC Triple Crown. It is momentum that Abacus hopes carries over to California and the Chili Bowl.
Bryson concluded, “The Chili Bowl has been very good to me, and I am excited to get back there in January. I have won the Tulsa Shootout, and one of my main racing goals is to win the Chili Bowl. I believe with Abacus I have a great chance to win. They had 3 cars here last year, and put one in the A-Main, and the other 2 made the B-Main’s so I like our chances.”
The final seven races for the USAC National Midget Championship begin on November 15, 2024 at Placerville Speedway and end with the Turkey Night Grand at Ventura Raceway on November 29, 2024. The Chili Bowl Nationals begins on January 12, 2025 with practice, followed by five consecutive preliminary feature nights that ends with the final feature night on January 18, 2025. All the races will be broadcast on FloRacing.
