Lancaster (NY) Motorplex and Race of Champions management have agreed to cancel the 35th Annual Tribute to Tommy Druar & Tony Jankowiak for the Race of Champions Modified Series at Lancaster for Sunday, October 13.
The Race of Champions Modified Series was set to compete in the event on Sunday, October 13, however a forecast that shows inclement weather over an extended period of time in the Western New York region forced the cancelation of the event.
Zane Zeiner of Bath, PA, has been declared the Series champion, earning his second consecutive title. Zeiner finished in the top-five in each of the nine Race of Champions Modified Series run during the 2024 campaign including two victories, both coming at Chemung (NY) Speedrome.
Jack Ely of Northampton, PA, finished second in the championship standings. Ely scored eight top ten finishes and a victory at Lancaster (NY) Motorplex in the Ol’ Boy Cup this past June.
Paulie Hartwig, III of Galloway, NJ, continues to be one of the young standout drivers, finished third with four top-five finishes.
Austin Kochenash of Danielsville, PA, and Jake Lutz of Hamburg, NY, each won races during the 2024 campaign and rounded out the top-five in the championship standings.
64 different drivers earned points during the 2024 season with 5 different drivers winning races, including Matt Hirschman of Northampton, PA, who won three events.
This will conclude the 2024 racing season for the Race of Champions Modified Series.
The next event for the Race of Champions “Family of Series” will be the annual champions celebration on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the Genesee River Restaurant and Reception Center. Details for the traditional event will be released shortly.
