Mallett Eager for World Short Track Challenge This Weekend at Riverside International Speedway

Jordon Mallett is excited to tackle the World Short Track Challenge this weekend at one of his home tracks.

Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., hosts the $10,000-to-win ASCS National Tour and USCS Series event on Friday and Saturday.

“It’s definitely one that we’ve had on our list that we are excited for,” Mallett said. “It’s a big show and close to home. Big shows are great, but it’s even better when they are close to home and your supporters are able to come out and be with you. That side of it makes it really nice.”

Mallett’s best run in two visits to the track this season was a fifth-place result during the Hooker Hood Classic. He was victorious at Riverside International Speedway each year between 2013 and 2017.

“It’s a track I’ve been fortunate to turn a lot of laps at,” he said. “I feel good. I’m confident in our ability to run well. I don’t know what the format is going to be. With this sport everything has to line up to begin with, but you have to have a little luck along the way, too. I feel we are very capable and hopefully the cards fall in our favor and we can run really well.”

The races this weekend mark the second ASCS National Tour doubleheader in a row that Mallett is attending as he plans to wrap up the racing season with eight straight National shows.

“We’re only as good as the competition we race,” he said. “I know we have a really good package and a really good program. It helps us know where we are lacking or where we are successful and to gauge our speed better. Being able to run with them consistently, you will notice where you can pick up some speed or are sacrificing some speed. I’ve turned a lot of laps with those guys and I enjoy racing with them in general.”
