William Sawalich Captures Second Consecutive ARCA Menards Series East Championship

Joe Gibbs Racing driver, William Sawalich, won his second-consecutive ARCA Menards Series East (AMSE) championship on Thursday night at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS).

The Minnesota native captured his championship with a race win, his second at BMS in as many years. Sawalich won two other races in the eight-race AMSE schedule – Nashville Fairgrounds and the Milwaukee Mile. He also has seven ARCA Menards Series wins and one ARCA Menards Series West win in 2024.

“It is just a thrill for everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing to have William capture back-to-back ARCA Menards Series East Championships”, said Joe Gibbs, owner of Joe Gibbs Racing. “We are proud of (crew chief) Matt Ross and everyone on our ARCA team. We are excited for William’s future and looking forward to his Xfinity Series debut next month at Homestead.”

“It’s such an honor to bring home another championship to Joe Gibbs Racing,” said Sawalich. “My team has brought fast Toyota Camrys every single week and it has been an awesome season. I’m happy we could get the championship and the race win tonight and carry on the winning tradition at JGR.”

“Winning consecutive championships is a tremendous accomplishment no matter what form of motorsports it is in, and we are thrilled for William, his family and our great partners at Joe Gibbs Racing,” said Paul Doleshal, Group Manager, Motorsports, Toyota Motor North America (TMNA). “William’s talent cannot be overstated, and we’re fortunate to have him within our development program. We look forward to William’s continued progression and are excited to be a part of the future successes he’s bound to garner.”

Sawalich also claimed the 2023 AMSE championship at Bristol Motor Speedway with four wins and top-five finishes in all eight races on the AMSE schedule. He became the second AMSE champion for Joe Gibbs Racing and the first Minnesotan to win the series championship.
