The lone West Coast Swing for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series in 2024 wraps up this weekend for Big Game Motorsports and David Gravel.
The team heads to Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., on Friday and Saturday for the $83,000-to-win Dennis Roth Classic. Gravel captured World of Outlaws wins at the track in 2016 and in 2017. He also finished second and third, respectively, during his most recent visit to Thunderbowl Raceway in March 2022.
Gravel highlighted last weekend in California with a fifth-place outing on Friday during the ‘Nashville West’ Showdown at Bakersfield Speedway in Bakersfield. He qualified seventh quickest, placed third in a heat race and advanced from seventh to fifth place in the main event for his 38 th top five of the season.
The weekend concluded on Saturday at Merced Speedway, which hosted the Federated Auto Parts Yosemite Showdown. Gravel was 25 th quickest in qualifying, but he maneuvered from seventh to fifth place in a heat race to lock into the A Main. He capped the night by gaining four positions in the feature to finish 13th.
Gravel enters this weekend with an 86-point lead in the World of Outlaws championship standings.
