Six Different Winners Highlight Race of Champions Modified Series Heading toward Race of Champions Weekend & the VP Racing Fuels Race of Champions 250

The Race of Champions Modified Series has had one of it’s most competitive seasons in history. Six different drivers have won races and 62 different driver’s have earned points as the Series heads into the biggest event of the season, the VP Racing Fuels 250 at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, PA.

Matt Hirschman of Northampton, PA; Jack Ely of Northampton, PA; Austin Kochenash of Danielsville, PA; Jake Lutz of Hamburg, NY; Ron Silk of Norwalk, CT; and Zane Zeiner of Bath, PA, who is the current series championship leader have all earned victories this season. Only Hirschman and Zeiner have visited victory lane multiple times. Hirschman’s victories came at Evans Mills (NY) Speedway and Mahoning Valley Speedway in Lehighton, PA, while Zeiner has swept the races at Chemung (NY) Speedrome.

“The Race of Champions hasn’t treated us that well recently and it’s really anyone’s game at Lake Erie,” stated Zeiner. “It’s a competitive Series and it should be a great race. We all gear up for it and we all look forward to it. The track has multiple grooves and produces passing, so it’s a great race for fans to watch as well. We’ll be there and be ready for it.”

The VP Racing Fuels Race of Champions 250 takes center stage on Sunday, September 22.

The Race of Champions Weekend schedule has been released and updated to include a “Friday Night” party in the pits where competitors who participated in practice will be encouraged to leave their cars out as we “open” the pits for an evening together with music and friends to peruse and hangout in the pit area with their favorite drivers following practice for the prestigious race weekend.

Sunday’s VP Racing Fuels Race of Champions 250 is set to roll off just after 4:00pm giving attendees plenty of time to return home following the race. On average the race takes just less than 2 hours to complete.

The three-day celebration of short track racing features the Race of Champions Modified; Sportsman; Late Model; Super Stock. The VP Racing Fuels Race of Champions 250 will be a “mid-afternoon” event on Sunday, September 22.
