Pure emotion, lifestyle and sharing a good time: these are the attributes that connect music and NASCAR racing. For the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series event in Oschersleben, Germany, the EuroNASCAR Management Group has appointed German singer and songwriter Garlev to provide the official soundtrack of the NASCAR GP Germany. The Berlin resident has created a rock hymn called “Freischwimmer” that will be used in the official communications of Europe’s official NASCAR series. Garlev is an avid racing fan and wants to combine the emotions of his songs with the pure racing of EuroNASCAR.
“The American dream, I feel like James Dean, come and visit me in Berlin.” The lyrics of the German song are a hymn to never give up, follow your dreams and chase happiness in life. Freischwimmer will be released ahead of the NASCAR GP Germany to become the official song for the first playoff round of the 2024 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season. Thanks to EuroNASCAR, fans will get a sneak peek of the song before its official release on September 20.
“We are very happy about this brand new initiative that will connect even more our fans with the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. The German fans are among the most passionate in Europe and Oschersleben is the perfect place to debut this special initiative,” said Gian Luca Guiglia, EuroNASCAR PR Manager. “A great song is the perfect soundtrack to everlasting memories and we are sure many, many fans will love ‘Freischwimmer’ and always connect it with the unique atmosphere of the EuroNASCAR event at Oschersleben.”
“For me, NASCAR is first and foremost a sport that’s a team sport,” said Garlev. “This means that different people work towards a common goal and support each other. The way I got to know NASCAR, the connection between the participants is very close and there is an emotional bond, similar to that in music. The openness in EuroNASCAR, especially towards the fans, is very high compared to other sports. I find that particularly nice!“
“I want to provide people with emotions and hope with my music, especially in those times. I want to convey the message: ‘You can do anything, don’t let setbacks get you down and never give up!’ That is certainly also a strong connection to NASCAR. In the meantime, close friendships have also developed over time with and with different drivers, team members. So it’s always a pleasure to come to the track. Emotionality and passion – all of this can be found in NASCAR and also in my songs. It’s this “all-in mentality” that’s similar to when a driver gets into his car. That’s why it’s the perfect match.”
Music is one of the key factors in creating engaging social media content. Combined with EuroNASCAR’s beautiful V8 orchestra, the NASCAR-ready rock song will be featured on social media, German TV highlights and in the event’s official trailer. Buckle up, grab your headphones and enjoy a perfect symphony of engine sounds and Garlev‘s guitar-heavy song with an important message to chase the things that make you happy. The NASCAR GP Germany takes place September 21-22 at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben near Magdeburg, a city close to Garlev’s hometown of Berlin, the capital of Germany.
