Trey Starks has four straight nights of Kubota High Limit Racing on tap in his home state of Washington this week.
The action begins on Wednesday at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma before Skagit Speedway in Alger hosts the Sage Fruit Skagit Nationals Thursday through Saturday. The event finale pays more than $100,000 to win, making it the highest-paying race on the West Coast this year.
“It’s a huge week,” he said. “In my opinion it’s our biggest week of the year. I’m excited to get back to the track at two different tracks and for so many nights in a row.”
Starks has been strong at both tracks this season. He won his lone 360ci winged sprint car start there and placed third during his only 410ci winged sprint car race at the track.
“I think it might change up the dynamic of this weekend with Elma being first,” he said. “It used to be you’d race three hard nights at Skagit and then go to Elma the next night for a 360 show. Elma is a fun track so we’re excited to start it there. With four straight nights of High Limit Racing it’s going to be intense, but it’s going to be exciting.”
Starks is the leading feature winner in the 410 sprint car division at Skagit Speedway, where he has produced a trio of victories and six top fives – also a division best. His team leads the championship standings at the high-banked oval.
“I feel really good about this weekend,” he said. “We had Dominic (Scelzi) in the car a couple of weeks ago. I think it gave the guys a different perspective to see how he was feeling and I think that will help us with our notebook. With a couple of weeks off I feel as fresh as I’ve been. I’m excited to hit it hard for those three nights. I think we can run up front. We’ll have to be on it from the start.”
Labor Day Weekend concludes on Sunday with a 360ci winged sprint car event at Grays Harbor Raceway, making it five straight nights of racing for Starks.
