Jordon Mallett is bound for Alabama this weekend for a pair of USCS Series shows.
The action begins on Saturday at Buckshot Speedway in Clanton followed by a race at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga on Sunday.
“We have high expectations because I’m in a good mental place,” he said. “If I don’t have high expectations of being a contender than I don’t need to be there. I feel we’re a contender and we hold ourselves to that standard. If we do our job right we should be able to compete up front.”
Saturday will mark his debut at Buckshot Speedway. Mallett last raced at Talladega Short Track in April 2022 when he finished seventh. He placed third at the track in 2020 and was victorious there in 2018.
“I always love going to new places,” he said. “I’m ready to see this place. We’ve raced all around Alabama, but that’s one track we haven’t been to so we’re eager to see it. And Talladega is a place I typically enjoy going to. We’ve had some success there. I haven’t got a chance to go there since they put a wall up around turns one and two so it’s been even more of a desire to go there.”
Mallett had planned on racing last Saturday at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark.
“We were on our way to the track and ended up having issues with our generator not working,” he said. “It was a problem we couldn’t fix remotely so we had to sacrifice racing that night. I’m really glad it happened when it did and not this weekend in Alabama or somewhere else hours away from home. It was a blessing in disguise.”
