Today, the NC Chamber announced that Roush Yates Engines’ V6 Twin-Turbo EcoBoost Engine for Limited Edition Ford GT Mk IV has been nominated for the “Coolest Thing Made in NC” competition. The contest spotlights North Carolina’s cutting-edge manufacturing industry—an industry that generates more than 17% of the gross state product and employs more than 10% of the state’s workforce.
“Thanks to the NC Chamber for this recognition, this Twin-Turbo EcoBoost pushes the limits of technology and engine development,” said Doug Yates, President and CEO of Roush Yates Engines. “Our team spent countless hours on the design and development of this engine, and to see these engines built in Mooresville, NC is testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff!”
This engine was engineered, validated and built by Roush Yates Engines in partnership with Ford Performance to maximize performance and durability in a track day application. The V6 Twin-Turbo EcoBoost Engine has a larger bore and stroke, making it the largest displacement EcoBoost V6 ever, along with 12% larger turbochargers, plus Le Mans race winning inspired billet crank, forged titanium rods and billet pistons.
This engine is the heart and soul of the new Ford GT Mk IV ($1,700,000 Supercar) that nods to the year that the original Mk IV won the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with just sixty-seven of these hand-built supercars to be produced. This specially engineered twin-turbo engine produces 800+ horsepower and over 680 LB-FT peak torque on 93 pump gasoline. For more about the V6 Twin-Turbo EcoBoost Engine, click here.
Earlier this year, Multimatic and driver Benjamin Sloss recorded a lap of 1:58:77 with the Ford GT Mk IV, unofficially making it the fastest GT car to lap COTA!
The public voting for this statewide contest has just opened, and we need your support to advance. The competition highlights North Carolina’s dynamic manufacturing sector, and our engine is one of the standout nominees among 145 incredible products this year.
