Tim Estenson returns to the track this weekend refreshed following three weeks off.
“It’s been pretty nice,” he said. “Just like anything, sometimes you need a little break. When you get some time off you take advantage of it and refresh your mind. Now we’re ready to go racing for the rest of the season.”
Estenson will compete with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series on Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., during the Gerdau Presents the 2 nd Leg of the World of Outlaws Northern Tour and Saturday at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D., during the Gerdau Presents the World of Outlaws Duel in the Dakotas. He will conclude the weekend on Sunday at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D.
The World of Outlaws races are close to home for Estenson, whose best finish at River Cities Speedway this season is a sixth-place outing. Saturday marks his first visit this season to Red River Valley Speedway.
“It gives you a boost of confidence to have some family and friends who are close watching,” he said. “I think you go into it with an open mind and hopefully start fresh with some good laps. A top 10 would be nice.”
Estenson heads into Sunday’s show at Huset’s Speedway, which is the final points night of the season, tied for third in the championship standings – only two points out of second place.
“Qualifying is so important,” he said. “Hopefully I can draw good and set down a good lap in qualifying. That’s what really sets up a chance for a good night.”
