ARCA Menards Series at The Illinois State Fairgrounds: Sawalich Wins at Springfield; Robusto and Reimer Make History in Top-3; Plus race results & unofficial points

William Sawalich (No. 18 Starkey/SoundGear Toyota) scored his sixth ARCA Menards Series win of 2024 in Sunday’s Springfield ARCA 100 on the one-mile dirt oval at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. Sawalich held off a furious final lap charge by Venturini Motorsports teammates Isabella Robusto (No. 20 JBL Audio Toyota) and Taylor Reimer (No. 55 BuzzBalls Toyota), who finished second and third. It marks the first time in series history that two female drivers finished among the top three in the same ARCA Menards Series race.

Hometown hero Kelly Kovski (No. 16 Brandt Agricultural Chevrolet) ran among the top five all afternoon after starting second and finished in the fourth position. Lavar Scott (No. 6 Max Siegel Inc. Chevrolet) restarted second on the final restart in overtime, but dropped to fifth after being pushed into the outside groove in turns one and two.

Toni Breidinger (No. 25 Sunoco Toyota) finished sixth, Kris Wright (No. 15 FNB Corporation Toyota) was seventh, Amber Balcaen (No. 22 ICON Direct Toyota) was eighth, Christian Rose (No. 32 Visit West Virginia Ford) was ninth despite being involved in a final-corner crash, and Tim Monroe (No. 12 Illinois Trucking Association/Riverside Chevy Chevrolet) rounded out the top ten.

ARCA Menards Series championship points leader Andres Perez (No. 2 Max Siegel Inc. Chevrolet) gave up ten points of his lead to Scott in the battle for the series championship. Perez suffered damage after hitting a rut on the track and lost more than 40 laps in the pits while his team made repairs. He finished 15th in the 20-car field. He unofficially leads the ARCA Menards Series standings by 49 points.

The next race for the ARCA Menards Series is the Sprecher 150 at The Milwaukee Mile on Sunday, August 25.
