Dominic Scelzi Gearing Up for Busy Weekend With High Limit and Trip to Washington

Dominic Scelzi has been eagerly anticipating this time of the racing season for months.

The Kubota High Limit Racing series is competing along the West Coast for the next three weeks followed by three straight weekends of World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series races in California.

“I’m incredibly excited,” Scelzi said. “This time of the year is something I look forward to every year. It’s a lot of fun. It’s very intense and it can bring out the best in you or the worst in you. Last year we had the best national swing we’ve ever had. This year we’re running against two national series so I’m really looking forward to the challenge.”

The High Limit Racing action begins on Thursday at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., before heading to Kings Speedway in Hanford, Calif., on Friday.

“It’s great racing at those tracks,” Scelzi said. “It feels like you are going home. That’s two places that have been good to me a lot more than they haven’t. Those are probably my two favorite tracks in California.”

Scelzi will hop on an airplane Saturday morning to venture to Washington to drive in two sprint car divisions for Trey Starks that night at Skagit Speedway in Alger.

“Trey and his wife are expecting their first child so it’s awesome to be able to more or less repay the favor,” he said. “When we were going to have a child I wasn’t certain I’d be able to make the race so we brought Trey down. I was able to race it, but I was thankful he was able to do that. To be able to repay that favor means a lot.”
