Pursley Leads Toyota 1-2-3 in Indiana Midget Week Win At Bloomington

Daison Pursley led fellow Toyota-powered drivers Justin Grant and Jacob Denney in a Toyota one-two-three finish at the USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget Series feature at Bloomington Speedway Friday, the midway point of 2024 Indiana Midget Week.

The win is the second of the season for Pursley. The USAC points leader has now registered podium finishes in each of this week’s three Indiana Midget Week events.

It was Grant that dominated much of the early going as he would quickly move to the front, leading the field on the opening lap with Denney in second and Pursley moving into the top three on lap two. The top three stayed in place until lap seven when Pursley would drive around Denney on a restart.

Grant would continue to lead through the first half of the 30-lap feature before Pursley would eventually drive under Grant for the lead on lap 16 in turns one and two.

A late caution would result in a four-lap dash to the finish line, but Pursley would remain firmly in charge to take the win, followed by Grant and Denney. The second-place finish is Grant’s best finish of the season.

Three more Toyota-powered drivers would finish in the top seven as Gavin Miller placed fifth, Cannon McIntosh was sixth and Zach Daum came home in seventh.

Indiana Midget Week wraps up with a pair of races this weekend, heading to Tri-State Speedway on Saturday before closing out the week’s events at Kokomo Speedway Sunday.
