When it comes to bad luck, popular, young sprint car driver “Shugah’” Shane Sexton has been bitten twice in two races to start the 2024 season. Last week after encouraging runs in hot laps, qualifying, and early in his heat in the Avanti Windows and Doors race at Perris Auto Speedway, engine problems arose and sent him to the sidelines before he could take the green flag in the main event.
The beautiful GAS Chassis #74 was at the track for its second time in 2024. After the hot lap session and qualifying at 17.371, Sexton found himself on the back row for the first heat race. The talkative driver got in seven laps of the 10-lapper. However, on lap eight, he slowed and returned to the pit area after the colorful car dropped a cylinder.
With his #2 engine already in the shop, Sexton is not sure when he will be back on the track, but he is hopeful it will not be too long.
On the better news front, the GAS Chassis Company, which is owned by Sexton’s father Stan, and his grandmother Nita Gatlin, will be making an exciting announcement in the not to distant future. Stay tuned.
The GAS Chassis Company is sponsoring the Perris Auto Speedway Young Gun Sprint Car Series in 2024. It will reward the champion with a brand-new GAS Chassis at season’s end.
