Braden Chiaramonte Is in Action Friday and Saturday at the Imperial Valley Raceway

After a dazzling performance in the USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series at Perris Auto Speedway two weeks ago, teenage racing star Braden Chiaramonte returns to the dirt track wars this Friday and Saturday at the Imperial Valley Raceway. The savvy young racer will be in the family owned #73B for the two nights of open comp sprint car racing during the California Mid-Winter Fair.

Newly turned 17-year-old Chiaramonte is no stranger to the clay oval that is located on the Imperial Valley Fairgrounds. Dating back to March 5th, 2022, he has competed on the track five times and never finished worse than ninth. Included in the races on the fairgrounds track, is a pair of 2023 wins in the POWRi Southwest Lightning Sprint Car Series. The latest of the wins came a year ago this weekend. On the same weekend, he raced a full-size sprint car there in an open comp show and finished ninth.

His first appearance in the SWLS on the fabled fairgrounds was two years ago and he placed second in the main event. Twenty-four hours later, he finished eighth.

This week’s appearance comes after an impressive showing when the USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series opened its 20th season of racing at Perris on February 24th. Driving a 410 sprint car for only the fourth time, Chiaramonte dominated the 12-lap B main. Just like his two previous 410 races at the end of 2023, he faced a stellar field of veteran 410 drivers in the A main. He started 16th and drove to an impressive eighth-place finish. In addition to moving up through the field, his lap of 17.072 was faster than the winner’s best time and it was the second-fastest lap of any driver in the 22 car, 30-lap race.

For Chiaramonte, who resides in El Cajon, California, this weekend will be like a family affair. His older brother Bronsen, who is a student at Arizona State, is also the race director at Imperial Valley Raceway. As always, the two boys will be joined by their parents Daniel and Terra for the two nights of racing.

Friday and Saturday’s races come just one week after the 67th anniversary of the first CRA Sprint Car race held on the fairgrounds that is located about 15 miles north of the USA/Mexico border. The USAC/CRA Series Chiaramonte raced in two weeks ago and will race in Saturday, March 16th at Perris, morphed from that original CRA.

If you would like to see this rising young star in person this week, wheel packing will start at 5:30 with hot laps and single car qualifying to follow on Friday. The first race of the night will begin at 7:00. On Saturday, wheel packing will be at 4:30 and again will be followed by hot laps and single car qualifying. The first race will start at 6:30.

Chiaramonte would like to thank all his sponsors who have made his racing efforts possible. RTL Traffic Control, AM Ortega, Hyper Racing, Chop Design, Adams Motors, Hacienda Casa Blanca Fine Mexican Dining, Evil Plus Injection, King Racing Products, Tyner, and Keizer Wheels.
